On the blog I am real and candid about what it means to LIVE the #itsalifestyle philosophy, offering recipes, lifestyle hacks, and #livealittleextra inspiration to fuel your own lifestyle map.
Today is the International Day of Happiness and amidst all the days commemorating “things”, this is one of my favourites
What we eat day in and day out is such a personal thing. You have likes and dislikes, tolerances and intolerances, allergies and aversions, adventurous taste buds and ‘play it safe’ favourites. This is why there is no ONE diet for everyone, there is no RIGHT way to eat.
I grew up with my favourite movies being the Father of the Bride I & II, so despite all the real life examples of what real pregnancy looked like- I secretly wanted to look like Annie did in her 90’s skin tight aerobic suit (Kimberly Williams- Paisley) and have an eclectic designer create the most beautiful nursery (that would be the size of my current home). But, as it turns out- that is not real life.
We have the best of intentions. We create goals, we envision change and so often we even take the first step, or two. But then… it fizzles out, our motivation wanes, and ‘life gets in the way’.

You’d think we’d get used to it. The slow, seemingly endless winter plagued by snow, freezing temperatures, grey skies, and social hibernation. But alas, here we are, mid- February, and complaining about the neverending torture and practically drooling over 10+C temperatures promised, come Spring.
But rather than dwelling in all that negativity, what if we turned to our tool box of healthy habits to better equip us for the remaining weeks ahead?
We all know in theory we need a good, restful sleep every night to be our healthiest selves, contribute meaningfully at work, and be present in our daily interactions. But, then why is it the first thing to go in favour of a work deadline, a social event, a TV sitcom premier, or a Netflix & Chill session?
Bottom line, exercise is a MUST. No question. But there can be variability in execution. Interval training could be the solution to increasing physical activity despite the time limitations of a busy schedule.
No food type is off limits when living #itsalifestyle, there is just always an opportunity to get the most bang for your buck, nutritionally speaking, by tweaking your go-to foods in a mindful way. This Mac n’ Cheeze is a prime example. Same carb-y comfort, more macro and micro nutrients!
Have you ever found yourself dreading a run with every fibre of your being? Or, maybe just the thought of walking into a gym with grunting strangers and cold personnel gives you the excuse you need to hit snooze on your morning alarm?
It is not uncommon to battle your immune system this time of year, afterall- you just put your body through the ringer. Today I am sharing my top 6 ways to avoid getting sick and/or lessen the impact of that current bug.
